Kerepek Durian? (Durian Chips)

Assalamualaikum.....

Manja2 gitu jer baunya. And rasa durian tu pun manja2 jer. Tak manis, tapi sangat lemak rasanya. Sedap. Rasanya ini jenis durian mengkal, diorang proseskan menjadi kerepek.

THE ENGLISH VERSION

We always have generous friends bring food and snacks from all over places. Not daily, but at least a few times in a week. Some bring it from their vacation, some from the trip back to visit parents in their hometown, some bring it after their works outstation trips. Thus, we have opportunity to taste the variety of interesting food.

Picture above is showing a small plate of chips and a few preserved salak fruit. The preserved salak fruit was from our former employee. He is an Indonesian. He missed us, thus he visited us in the office and brought the salak fruit. I wrote about him once in this blog. His name is Pak Hery.

The chip was an interesting snack. The flavour and smell of durian was very mild and they are not as sweet as the normal durian. I think this chip was made from the unripe durian. Rather than throw it away, they transform it into a delicious snack. Not only the durians were not wasted, it furthermore generates income to the people.

This chip had been brought by one of our friends. She's being a Johorian married to a Kelantanese. Her mother in law originated from Pattani, Thailand. She will join her in laws to celebrate Hari Raya and one after another occasion in Pattani. So, this durian chips came from Thailand.

I think Malaysians could be more creative. Though we already have the jackfruit chips now....
